Processing Time Off Requests from Dataviews

In the Time Reporting System (TRS), the Requests button on dataviews, such as the GW Outstanding Time Off Request dataview, allows managers to approve or refuse time off requests directly from the dataview.

  • From the Home Screen menu, under Dataviews & Reports, select Dataview Library.
  • Select an applicable dataview, such as the GW Outstanding Time Off Requests dataview.
  • Once on the dataview, in order to see any unprocessed (Submitted or Cancel Submitted) requests for the entire fiscal year, change the dates to July 1 through June 30, using the calendar icon on the top right-hand side of the screen.
  • Select the Employee in the list by checking the check mark box to the left of the employee’s name.
  • Select the Requests button and then select Approve or Refuse in the drop-down menu.

IMPORTANT: The Approval button on dataviews will not approve time off requests. Choosing “Approve Timecard” in the Approval drop down menu signs off that employee’s actual timecard, which in turn, prevents the employee from clocking in and out for the rest of the pay period. It is important that managers and timekeepers are not selecting Approve Timecard when trying to process a time off request.
