Health Advocate

GW’s Health Advocate program is the nation’s leading independent healthcare advocacy and assistance company. 

As a special benefit paid for by GW, the service can help you:

  • Clarify insurance plans and help you decide which plan is right for you
  • Get healthcare claim support to resolve questions and/or issues
  • Untangle medical bills
  • Provide clinical advocacy (PDF):
    • Clarify diagnoses
    • Arrange expert second-opinions
    • Coordinate care and services after a hospital stay
  • Understand what medical information is required for disability claims
  • Forward medical records and other required documentation to the disability carrier
  • Understand what is needed for an employee to submit an appeal for a denied claim (as well as gather the documents needed for an appeal).
  • Prepare for the future with tools and guidance for advance care planning, organizing important documents, and supporting your loved ones through healthcare decisions.

 Note: Health Advocate cannot submit an appeal for denied disability claims, make disability determinations or provide independent medical reviews.

Who Is Eligible?

As a benefit-eligible GW employee, you are automatically enrolled in Health Advocate.

Health Advocate is available at no cost to employees, spouses, dependents, parents and parents-in-law and is completely confidential. You do not need to participate in a medical plan to utilize Health Advocate.

How to Access

Health Advocate calls are unlimited and is available 24/7. Contact Health Advocate at (866) 695-8622 or visit healthadvocate.com/gwu. 

Health Advocate has introduced a new, registration-based login experience for its member website and mobile app. Beginning August 26, members will need to register for an account to access Health Advocate online. Registration enhances the security of your account, helps you get to the right resources faster, and provides more personalized support.

Register via the Health Advocate Website

To register or log in through the member website:

  1. Visit www.HealthAdvocate.com/gwu
  2. Select “Register now”
  3. Create your username and password
  4. Log in to your account

Note: No additional registration code is needed when accessing Health Advocate through the URL above.

Register via the Health Advocate Mobile App

To register through the Health Advocate mobile app:

  1. Download the Health Advocate app from the App Store or Google Play
  2. Select “Register now”
  3. Enter GW's registration code: 2V7ASU
  4. Create your account
  5. Log in

Note: After initial registration, the code will no longer be needed.
