Health Advocate

GW’s Health Advocate program is the nation’s leading independent healthcare advocacy and assistance company. 

As a special benefit paid for by GW, the service can help you:

  • Clarify insurance plans and help you decided which plan is right for you

  • Get healthcare claim support to resolve questions and/or issues

  • Untangle medical bills

  • Provide clinical advocacy (PDF):

    • Clarify diagnoses

    • Arrange expert second-opinions

    • Coordinate care and services after a hospital stay

  • Understand what medical information is required for disability claims

  • Forward medical records and other required documentation to the disability carrier

  • Understand what is needed for an employee to submit an appeal for a denied claim (as well as gather the documents needed for an appeal).

 Note: Health Advocate cannot submit an appeal for denied disability claims, make disability determinations or provide independent medical reviews.

Who Is Eligible?

As a GW employee, you are automatically enrolled in Health Advocate.

Health Advocate is available at no cost to employees, spouses, dependents, parents and parents-in-law and is completely confidential. You do not need to participate in a medical plan to utilize Health Advocate.
