Paid Time Off and Leave Programs

GW values the time you invest at the university, and we also recognize the importance of taking time away from work to rest and recharge, or attend to your health and family obligations. After all, making an investment in yourself brings renewed focus and creativity to your career at GW.

Paid time off programs include annual and sick time, holidays, as well as a winter break at the end of December.

The university also provides unpaid leave such as Family and Medical Leave, USERRA Leave and Paid Parental Leave (after meeting eligibility requirements).

The Benefits team manages the administration of all paid time off and leave programs. Please check out the sections on Paid Time Off and Leave and access the Time Off and Leave Guide, where you can find more information on program policies, holiday dates, and manager tips on implementing time off and leave programs within your department.  For questions about these programs, please email Benefits at [email protected] or contact your HR Business Partner.

Administration of Paid Time Off and Leave

You, with the help of your manager, are responsible for managing your paid time off and leave. You are also responsible for reporting your paid-time off and leave that you have taken, honestly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
