Employees assigned to this group must possess a Master’s degree in Library Science from a library school accredited by the American Library Association and qualify for an appointment as a librarian pursuant to the governing codes and bylaws established by GW.

Library Services - Staff

Employees in this subfamily are responsible for providing support, coordination, management and direction for library operations. These non-librarian positions perform tasks that facilitate the functioning and operations of the university's libraries. Employees manage the operations of one or more library operations and service areas related to acquisition, cataloging, circulation, shelving, record creation and maintenance, preservation, and processing of library materials and resources. Employees manage and oversee the activities and services provided by library staff, including direct patron assistance, library course reserves, resource sharing and patron record maintenance. Duties may include monitoring building access, managing the circulation desks on various shifts, coordinating the development of the libraries’ physical and electronic collections in support of the academic and research missions, assisting users in locating required research materials and providing general assistance to faculty and students.
