During continuous unpaid leave, you may choose to either continue or cancel (PDF) some or all of your eligible benefits. Cancelations of benefits can be done within 30 calendar days after the start of a continuous unpaid leave via go.gwu.edu/enroll4benefits.
Returning from a Leave of Absence
Upon return to active employment, you may re-enroll or make a change (consistent with a qualifying life event) to your benefits within 30 calendar days of returning to work via go.gwu.edu/enroll4benefits. Elections must be consistent with qualifying life event rules. (i.e., cannot newly enroll in medical coverage if none was in force prior to the leave of absence.)
If no election is made, your next opportunity to enroll will be during annual open enrollment or within 30 calendar days of a future Qualified Life Event (QLE).
