Critical Illness Insurance

Coverage

Critical Illness Insurance administered through Voya pays a lump-sum benefit if you are diagnosed with a covered  illness or condition that happens on or after your coverage effective date. Critical Illness Insurance is a limited benefit policy. Claims and documentation of the medical condition that meet the policy and certificate requirements will need to be provided directly to Voya. This benefit  can complement, but not  replace health insurance and does not satisfy the requirement of minimum essential coverage under the Affordable Care Act.

Please note: The Group Policy Name for Voya Critical Illness is The George Washington University. The Group Policy Number is 739553.

Included Plan Features

  • You select your coverage amount from $10,000 or $20,000. Spouse/Domestic Partner coverage is also available in an amount equal to the selected employee benefit.
  • Dependent coverage is available at 50% of the selected employee benefit.
  • Benefits are paid directly to you and are in addition to GW's medical and disability benefits (if eligible and enrolled).
  • Your Critical Illness Insurance includes a wellness benefit of $50. This is an annual benefit you and everyone covered on your certificate can earn by completing an eligible health screening test. The benefit payment you receive for your health screening test can be used to help pay for the cost of the test or however you like. Watch this video to see how to file a wellness claim.
