Off-Campus and Occasional On-Campus Parking
The university offers all benefit eligible employees a pre-tax deduction for parking expenses up to the IRS limit of $325 per month.
If you participate in SmarTrip parking and the Commuter Parking Benefit Program at the same time, your total monthly contributions cannot exceed the IRS maximum limit. It is the participant's responsibility to ensure any contributions to more than one plan do not exceed the current IRS monthly limits. Additionally, enrollment in the University's on-campus parking program makes you ineligible to participate in the Commuter Parking Benefit Program.
Participant Enrollment/Changes/Termination
Benefit eligible employees may enroll, make deduction changes, and terminate their participation via the GW Benefits Enrollment System. Changes to your parking deduction will be reflected on the first of the month coinciding with the change or the date listed on the completed online enrollment form.
- Bi-weekly paid employees, the deductions are only taken the first two pay periods of a month and are available for you to submit claims against the following month.
- Monthly paid employees, the deductions are taken on the last working day of the month.
